Randburg is mainly a middle income residential area with green leafy suburbs that spread out from the CBD in north western Johannesburg.
Many first time home owners find a place in Randburg, which is also home to some fine golf courses like Randpark and Windsor Park.
The CBD was once a thriving hub, but has fallen into decay since the 1990’s, so many of the residents commute to nearby Fourways and Sandton. For some time now plans have been afoot to revive the CBD which is still home to Multichoice and its associated companies M-Net and SuperSport.
Other businesses in the area are mainly light industries, small engineering companies, and hundreds of small to medium sized businesses. The CBD also has an excellent representation of all the car manufacturers and boasts many spares shops and auto services. For new businesses, the Randburg CBD is an attractive option as the office rentals are extremely competitive.
Randburg is also close to Lanseria International Airport and is extremely well connected to the highway arteries.
Randburg is well served with shopping centres, like Cresta Centre, NorthGate, Randburg Square and Brightwater Commons, which also offers some good entertainment.
The well-known private school, St Stithians, is also close to the CBD as is the Sandton Clinic and many surrounding medical suites.
