Harvesting Heritage Culinary Competition: Reviving Traditional Tastes and Cuisines
Join us for an extraordinary event as Harvesting Heritage, SocioTech, Nederburg Wines, and the South African Chefs Association come together to support a self-sustaining, community-based program in Limpopo. Our mission? To grow, distribute, and cook with sometimes forgotten indigenous ingredients, reviving traditional tastes and cuisines while creating a thriving market for them within the hospitality trade and for home consumption.
A People, Planet, Plate initiative, we are inviting passionate chefs to embrace the challenge of recreating and reinterpreting classic recipes, expanding South Africa’s already flourishing New African Cuisine. The best dishes featuring these indigenous ingredients will be showcased in the highly anticipated Harvesting Heritage Culinary Competition on 27 May in Pretoria.
Distinguished chefs, both accredited and discerning diners, will make up the judging panel. The winning chef will receive the prestigious first prize, determined by the judges’ expertise, while the people’s choice chef will also be celebrated. With only 240 tickets available, priced at R895 per person, this is an exclusive opportunity to indulge in an exceptional culinary experience paired with a glass of exquisite wine.
