Richmond Museum, Natal Midlands, KwaZulu-Natal

The Richmond Museum is situated in the town of Richmond in KwaZulu-Natal and depicts the turbulent history of the Settlers, the local Amabhaca people who fled from king Shaka and the Zulu’s, as well as the arrival of the Indian Community in the 1860s.

The Byrne settlers are commemorated in the displays of their hand made clothing, needlework, furniture and other memorabilia. Richmond Educational achievements are on on display as well as documented rebellions and the struggles of those who moulded the town of Richmond.
