Waberski Secures a Spot in GB3 Championship, Seventeen-year-old Jarrod Waberski is on the verge of joining the prestigious British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) Rising Star Programme.
Operating from the iconic Silverstone Circuit, the BRDC boasts a legacy of nurturing some of the finest racing talents hailing from Great Britain and the Commonwealth.
Motorsport South Africa’s CEO, Adrian Scholtz, emphasizes that selection for the program is reserved for drivers aged 24 and under. Representing the BRDC in various global championships, the Rising Stars, identified by their distinctive ‘blue roundel,’ aspire to progress to full membership through noteworthy performances.
Lewis Hamilton and George Russell stand as a testament to the program’s success.
Scholtz praises Waberski’s prowess, highlighting his journey from karting to clinching multiple championships, regional titles in 2013, 2017, and 2018, and the South African title in 2018.
Transitioning to the Formula 1600 Championship South Africa in 2020, Waberski continued his success with podium finishes and race victories.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Jarrod states, “It is undoubtedly a fantastic opportunity for me, and I eagerly anticipate kicking off the year with the BRDC.”
Embarking on the GB3 Championship, the premier single-seater series in the United Kingdom, Waberski acknowledges the tough competition, featuring fellow drivers from F1 academies and F4 champions. Recognizing the challenges of international competition, he notes the steep learning curve but remains optimistic, citing the team’s competitiveness in preseason testing.
