Sandboarding is a popular activity offering in and around Jeffrey’s Bay. Most backpackers offer sandboarding (dune boarding as it also called) as do surf camp and surf tour operators.
Sand boarding is quite similar to snowboarding in technique, but with experienced instructors on hand to keep you on your feet and your face out the sand, you don’t need any experience.
The main areas are the Aston Bay dunes and nearby St Francis, although the Sunshine Coast is characterized by large coastal dunes and dune fields, so there are many places you can go.
Most backpackers around Jeffreys bay will have sandboards for hire, and they will be able to advise you on what dunes are the safest and/or you is available to teach you if you are a beginner. If you aren’t – there are many steep, high dunes that offer pure adrenalin!
