Saronsberg Wine Estate, Tulbagh, Western Cape

Saronsberg Wine Estate, Tulbagh, Weatern CapeSaronsberg Wine Farm is situated at the foot of the Saronsberg Mountain, part of the Obiqua Mountains which together with the Winterhoek and Witzenberg Ranges, surround the Tulbagh Valley. The farm was split off from the Twee Jonge Gezellen farm in 2002 creating a unique location for this progressive winery. Apart from tasting the excellent wines, the estate is not to be missed for many reasons.

The avant-garde tasting room houses the Saronsberg Collection, a permanent display of contemporary South African art. The winery’s state of the art fermentation cellar and the traditional wood maturation cellar can be viewed from the tasting room through huge glass panels. The wine cellar building is a modern take on the area’s rich heritage.

Recognizing the need for a cultural centre, the Saronsberg Theatre was established by the owner of the estate. The Theatre has become the entertainment hub of the town, providing musical theatre, children’s theatre, shows for the elderly, drama and live performances by local bands in Afrikaans and English.

The Bravo Café is an arty gourmet pancake bar situated at street level of the theatre. Bookings can be made to enjoy a meal on theatre nights.
