Welbedacht Wine Estate is home to the Burgers, the famous South African rugby playing family. Springbok, Schalk Burger, has been twice named rugby player of the year and his father was a Springbok before him. This beautiful farm nestles into the north-west slopes of the Groenberg Mountains and has expansive views over the picturesque valley.
Apart from producing award winning wines the estate is well know for probably the most beautiful cricket oval in South Africa. The cricket grounds provide a unique venue for corporate functions or social days.
The wines produced by Schalk Burger and Sons have won awards too numerous to mention here including a gold medal at the Michelangelo International Wine Awards for their flagship wine called “Cricket Pitch”. Eighteen different cultivars are grown on the estate.
