The beautiful fynbos-clad Slanghoek Valley Resort in the Badsberg Conservancy, is a wonderful getaway for those who love nature, spectacular views and the country at its best. No matter the season, the valley always has something special.
The scenery and facilities are ideal as a magnificent wedding venue, from the intimate serviceand warm reception to the accommodation options – self-catering chalets, a tented camp as well as camping with own tent or caravan. The Slanghoek Valley Resort is also a conference venue.
There are so many things to do. On most Saturday mornings, weather permitting, there are horse rides for the kids. The ride takes you through the vineyards on the farm. There is the most beautiful 18-hole putt-putt course on a fynbos hill – spectacular views from most “holes”. Walk to the lookout point – almost the entire Slanghoek valley lies at your feet. The walk is a 1 hour circular route. You can also walk to waterfall site, which takes about 3½ hours – a vehicle with high clearance is required to get to the starting point at the dam.
Fishing in small dam near the campsites – the Slanghoek stream fills it with water. Blue gill fishing can be enjoyed at the dam, by the whole family. Fishing in the trout dam – fly fishing only, catch and release. A vehicle with high clearance is needed to access the dam.
There are two swimming pools near the chalets and tents and another at the campsites.
There are many wine cellars to visit in the Slanghoek valley, to you can taste the best without travelling far.
Slanghoek Mountain Resort is centrally situated between Ceres, Worcester, Tulbagh, Wolseley, Robertson, Paarl, Franschoek and Stellenbosch.
Directions: From Cape Town take the N1 to Paarl, through Du Toitskloof, turn right to Rawsonville on the R101. On the R101, drive until you reach the first road crossing. Turn left here (look for the Slanghoek road sign). Drive for about 10km, past Goudini Spa, past Slanghoek Wine Cellar, past Opstal Estate until you reach the Slanghoek Mountain Resort sign on your right.
From Pretoria on the N1, pass Worcester, pass Shell Ultra City and then turn left to Rawsonville at the R101 turnoff. On the R101 drive until you reach the second road crossing. Turn right here (look for the Slanghoek road sign). Drive for about 10km, past Goudini Spa, past Slanghoek Wine Cellar, Past Opstal Estate until you reach the Slanghoek Mountain Resort sign on your right.
