Step into something meaningful! Funky Socks Day returns on 12 September 2025 to raise R2.5 million for four life-changing charities supporting kids across Southern Africa.
Pull up your brightest pair and get ready to strut with purpose. Funky Socks Day is back this September, and it’s all about making a difference from the ground up. This year, a few extra charities have been adopted, making the reach of Funky Socks Day even greater!
This joyful annual tradition invites South Africans (and now Namibians too!) to wear their wildest, wackiest socks on Friday, 12 September 2025, all in the name of helping children across the region live safer, healthier, and more hopeful lives.
For just R10, you can grab your official Funky Socks Day sticker from PNA and join thousands of others in stepping out for a cause that’s as fun as it is heartfelt. And behind the polka dots, stripes, and rainbow toes lie four remarkable organisations working to uplift some of the most vulnerable young people in Southern Africa.
Step 1: Build Hope, One Pencil Case at a Time
Breadline Africa is turning dreams into desks and playtime into progress. Funds raised from Funky Socks Day will help deliver 50 educational packs to children in under-resourced communities. These packs, filled with essentials like workbooks and pencil cases, may be a first for many kids, offering not just tools for school, but a powerful sense of pride and possibility.
“Through this partnership, we aim to bring learning to life. These funds will help us provide educational packs to 50 Early Childhood Development centres, enabling educators and bright young minds.” – Marion Wagner, CEO, Breadline Africa
Step 2: Comfort in the Toughest Moments
Matla a Bana walks alongside child survivors of abuse. Thanks to the campaign, 500 comfort packs will be handed out at police stations and hospitals, each one a gentle act of care. Inside: toiletries, snacks, a soft toy, and the message that someone sees them, believes them, and wants them to heal.
“Each comfort pack we distribute offers hope, dignity, and care to children who have faced unthinkable trauma. Thanks to Funky Socks Day, we can reach 500 more children this year.” – Monique Strydom, Founder, Matla a Bana
Step 3: Learning Through Laughter
Facing cancer is unimaginably tough, especially for kids. But CHOC’s iPad Learning Programme, powered by iSchoolAfrica, is helping young patients stay connected to school and joy during long hospital stays. Your sticker helps CHOC bring lessons, laughter, and love to the bedside of children bravely facing life-threatening illnesses.
