With trail Heads at Ou Tol and De Hoek, the Swartberg hikes vary in distance, depending on which sections of the network you choose to hike.
Whether you take an easy day hike or the fairly demanding 3-5 day routes, you will experience spectacular rock formations, endless vistas of the Klein Karoo, deep kloofs, the typical fynbos fauna like grey rhebok, klipspringer, common duiker, grysbok, steenbok, kudu and baboon. A birdwatcher may tick Verreaux’s, Martial and Booted eagles, Cape rock-jumper, Victorin’s warbler, Cape Sugarbirds and Orange Breasted sunbirds, just some of the more than 150 bird species.
