Exhibitions at the Apartheid Museum are multi-media – comprised of video and film footage, photographs and text, and cover 22 exhibition areas in both permanent and special exhibitions. Learn about racial classification, the Black Homelands, systems of segregation and the men and women, both black and white, who fought tirelessly to bring down the Nationalist Government that subjugated and excluded the Black, Indian and Coloured people of South Africa from 1910 until 1994.
Exhibitions also cover a pivotal part of the healing process – the Truth and Reconciliation Commission that was an expression of the extraordinary humanity of South Africa’s first Black President, Nelson Mandela, who despite 27 years in prison, was intent on promoting reconciliation and forgiveness.
