A popular destination near Tzaneen and Polokwane for camping, picnicking, birding, boating and fishing, the Ebenezer Dam is situated on the Groot Letaba River, high up in the ‘Land of the Silver Mist’ between Haenertsburg and Magoabaskloof.
The reservoir dam is large, with a surface area of 386ha, supplying up to 70 million cubic meters to Tzaneen and the surrounding area.
Fishing is best done by boat, as the banks are very steep, and is well worth a trip up to the dam. Species found in abundance include Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass, Catfish (Barbel), Kurper, Golden Carp and Rainbow Trout.
There is a small launch fee. For more info contact The Boat Club on 015 276 2341
