The Midlands Meander is one of South Africa’s premier tourist routes, set in the heart of KwaZulu-Natal.
It is a collection of tourism and hospitality establishments that have collaborated in their efforts to provide a premier tourist experience in this unique and beautiful part of South Africa. And, over the past 25 years, they have succeeded with flying colours.
The concept was born in 1985 when four potters, a weaver and a couple of artists got together to discuss the option of collaborating for their expeditions. They couldn’t have had any idea at the time that their efforts would result in the biggest community-tourism project in the country, one that has set a standard yet to be matched by any subsequent effort of this nature.
The Midlands Meander boasts world class accommodation, dining, arts and craft and leisure establishments. It truly is the perfect place for a relaxing, romantic getaway. Horse riding, wine tasting, Zulu cultural experiences, trout fishing, curio shopping, there’s something for every taste here. Find something to suit your taste on the Midlands Meander.
Getting there: The Midlands Meander is a collection of routes branching off the main highway between Johannesburg and Durban, the N3.
