Trailblazer in Blue First Woman in SAPS Western Cape TRT

In honor of Women’s Month, the South African Police Service is celebrating Constable Thabisa Ntyinkala, a pioneering member of the SAPS Tactical Response Team. At 44, Ntyinkala from Khayelitsha stands out not just for her dedication to safeguarding South Africa but also as the only female member in the Western Cape’s Tactical Response Team.

Known for her rigorous fitness regimen and no-nonsense demeanor, Ntyinkala commands respect and attention. Despite being the sole woman in a male-dominated field, she seamlessly integrates with her team, demonstrating that gender is no barrier to excellence in high-stakes environments.

She’s the only female constable serving in the Western Cape SAPS Tactical Response Team and she goes above and beyond the call of duty

Joining the SAPS in September 2014, Ntyinkala started her journey at Cape Town Central Police Station and quickly distinguished herself through her impressive physical fitness. Her commitment led her to the Tactical Response Team, where she has excelled ever since.

The Tactical Response Team is tasked with managing the province’s most dangerous situations, requiring peak operational readiness. Ntyinkala advises aspiring women to work diligently and earn their place without expecting special treatment. She reports no challenges in commanding her peers or interacting with the public, reinforcing her belief that professional demeanor and preparedness are key to positive perception.
“My hope is for every member to honor their oath and help eradicate corruption within SAPS,” Ntyinkala states. Her dedication and vision underscore her commitment to upholding the integrity of the South African Police Service.

For Ntyinkala, fitness and faith are fundamental. She emphasizes the importance of maintaining a professional appearance and posture, and she relies on her fitness routine and personal prayer for support and balance. Looking ahead, she is preparing for a six-week training course to select new members for the SAPS Tactical Response Team in the Western Cape.
