Vaalvlei Farm, Flyfishing, StanfordThe Vaalvlei working farm name changed to Goodluck Homestead run by Tabby & Alex two of the shareholders, the Homestead is just 9km from Stanford, and is set in the Klein River Mountains, with awesome views. But, more than that, this is an excellent fly fishing spot, with rainbow trout, bass, tilapia, and bluegills in two spring fed lakes.

It is also ideal to take any enthusiastic youngster who’s keen to paddle on the boats, float tubes and fish, waders welcome and only barbless hooks should be used.

Directions: From Hermanus – Take the R43 to Stanford. In Stanford, turn left onto the R326 and travel 4kms and then turn right onto the Papiesvlei/Elim road (old Salmonsdam road).

Travel a further 5kms on this well maintained dirt road to the Vaalvlei farm gate on the right.

From Caledon – Take the R316 and travel approx. 27kms and then turn right onto the R326 and travel approx. 19kms. Turn left onto the Papiesvlei/Elim road (old Salmonsdam road).

Travel a further 5kms on this well maintained dirt road to the Vaalvlei farm gate on the right.
