Zaan Sonnekus releases new single, Krapmerke!

Zaan Sonnekus has mastered the art of combining meaningful lyrics with unique pop-rock sounds to get an exceptional end result.

The latest alternative track, from his own pen, once again shows just how talented this Pretorian really is.

According to this skilful songwriter, with his captivating stage personality and artistic collection of tattoos, KRAPMERKE is about the pieces of the people in your life that remains with you. “We tend to adopt certain mannerisms and characteristics of the people in our lives, whether they are still with us or not,” he explains.

An encounter with a tramp inspired this chillingly beautiful song, produced by Tertius Human of Coolerbox Records.

“After a brief conversation, I realized that we are very similar but come from different worlds. There was a part of him in me and of me in him; our stories were parallel to one another but were influenced by different characters and settings.”

KRAPMERKE is Zaan’s fifth (Ek Kan Net Bid, Hoog, Tiernerkwaad and Ten Minste Vir My) single and forms part of his debut-album, Zonneblom, which was released in 2021 and has been a big career highlight for him in the six years that he has been in the music industry.

When he is not on stage, he is part of Son Studios and Son Sound and is also co-owner of INNER INK, which manufactures hardened glass on an industrial level and does ceramic printing.

KRAPMERKE has a friendly, nostalgic sound with lyrics that run deeper than the music. It reminds me of what is really important, and I hope that it will make a difference in the lives of everyone who listens to it,” he concludes.

The song is available on his album, ZONNEBLOM. Download it here: https://linktr.ee/zaansonnekus
